Allan Louis Blessing Jr.,
35, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, after a courageous battle at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A funeral service will be
1 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Allan was born Aug. 2, 1980, to Cindy Nye and Allan Blessing Sr. in Cedar Rapids. He was a handsome, witty, charming young man and had a personality that could light up a room. He enjoyed success as a Silver Glove Boxer with Apache Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend his time on the water fishing, boating, swimming and tanning.
He is survived by his parents, Cindy (Scott) Nye and Allan Blessing Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Gloria Kolter; his sister, RaeLyn (Tim) Thompson; nephew and nieces, Zach, Morgan and Alexis Kehoe; the love of his life, Jillian Griffith, and her daughter, Paige; his close friends and cousins, Josh Ridenour and Michelle Blessing; aunts and uncles, Christine Gardner, Debra (Wanda Williams) Strope, Tracy (Francisco) Calderon, Dan Johnson, Christine and Randy Ridenour, Sharon (Ken) McKnight and Eldon Blessing; numerous other loving cousins; his best friend who was like a brother to him, Dustin White; and his faithful companion, Max.
Allan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; his maternal grandfather; numerous aunts and uncles; his cousin and best friend, Justin Fielder; and his Nonnie, Janis Holland.
