Alicia Havlik, 98, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sept. 1, 2022, in her home in Allen, Texas. Celebration of Life services will be held at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Allen, Texas, and Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Alicia was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Piura, Peru, South America, the daughter of Gaspar and Alicia (Cabredo) Augusto. Alicia was united in marriage to Bud Havlik on Dec. 31, 1952, in Piura, Peru. She and her children traveled all over the world while Alicia and Bud worked in the oil industry. Places they lived included Egypt, Sudan, Nigeria, Mozambique, Argentina, and many other countries. Alicia moved with her family to Cedar Rapids in 1970 where she worked as a bookkeeper in the family business of commercial real estate and numerous other ventures. After Bud’s death in December 2020 (68 years of marriage), she moved to Allen, Texas, to be close to her family in Oklahoma and Texas.
Alicia is survived by sons, Joseph J. (Sheree) Havlik of Allen, Texas, and Ric (Doreen) Havlik of Broken Arrow, Okla.; six grandchildren, Joe R. (Tracy) Havlik, Shannyn (Chris) Chance, Jennifer (Robert) Garcia, Chantel (Jeff) Berger, Mike Havlik and Jay (Candance) Havlik; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She also is survived by two sisters, Raquel Albee Caylor and Chela Lema.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 of her siblings.
Visitation will be held at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX 75013. Mass of Christian Burial will follow Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 1914 Ridgeview Drive, Allen, TX 75013. Final burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 2200 C St SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
