ALICE S. WILLIAMS Marion Alice S. Williams, God whispered her name, took her hand and brought her to heaven on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at King of Kings Lutheran Church, where friends may register after 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Mark Halvorson will officiate. Inurnment in Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ted; a daughter, Kari (Tim) Shetterly of Marion; two sons, Scot (Jeanine) of Council Bluffs and Ted (Jane) of Roseville, Minn.; and two sisters, Agnes (Robert) Appleman of Philadelphia, Pa., and Doris (Norman) George of Billings. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a special friend, Darlene; and her Bichon dog, Shane, who brought her many hours of joy. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty and Carol. Alice was born April 25, 1933, in Baldwin, N.D., the daughter of August and Ida Hildenbrand Stevahn. She graduated from the Bismarck School of Nursing with a degree as a registered nurse. During her nursing career, she worked at several hospitals in the psychiatric departments and finished her nursing career at St. Luke's Hospital after 24 years of service. Alice was a longtime and active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially the trip to the Hawaiian Islands for her 80th birthday. Alice will forever be remembered for her wonderful smile that would light up a room. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
