Alice Bernice "Bunnie" Beard, 101, longtime resident of Oxford, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at the Lantern Park Specialty Care Center in Coralville, where she had resided the past five years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at St. Mary's Auditorium in Oxford, followed by burial at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Oxford Chapel of Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Memorial donations can be made in Bunnie's memory to the Good News Bible Church in Iowa City. Alice Bernice Williams was born Aug. 22, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Mary Williams. Bunnie married Richard "Babe" Beard on June 2, 1939, in Oxford. They had three children, Jeanie of Coralville and Locke and Bill of Oxford. Bunnie was one of nine children, with four sisters still living, Janette of Des Moines, Esther of Mesa, Ariz., and Juanita and Beatrice of California. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lynn and Don; sisters, Betty and Delores; her parents; and husband, Babe. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren will miss their Grandma Bunnie!
