Alger, Donna Meinen Steggall
Donna Meinen Steggall Alger, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died in her home Monday, August 2, 2010. Funeral mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Burial: St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Cathy (Randy) Mathews of Marion, Annette (Steve Barkwill) Ulch of Atkins, and Blaine (Lisa) Steggall of Marion, a brother, Richard (Willie) Meinen of Medford, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Franklin of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Callie Welsh, Amy Welsh, Lisa Welsh, Brian Ulch, Joey Ulch, Brady Steggall, Macy Steggall and Johanna Steggall; her great-grandchildren, Chase Welsh, Avery Moomey, Amaya Dos, and Kylie Doss; a stepgrandson, Spencer Mathews; and a first cousin, Joan Frye of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna was born March 3, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary Reisdorf Meinen. She was employed at Farmstead Foods for many years and retired from the Lason Company. Donna loved her grandchildren and attended all of their events. She was an avid sports fan, card player and loved to travel and fish. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge.
Donna was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
