Alfred O. "Al" Hotchkiss, 77, of Lamont, Iowa, died on Nov. 18, 2021, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church, Lamont. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday and for one hour before the service on Monday at the Grace United Methodist Church, Lamont. Interment: Campton-Oak Hill Cemetery, Lamont. Military Graveside Rights by the Aurora American Legion and the Army Honor Guard. A memorial fund has been established for Common Grounds and the Iowa Honor Flight Program. Fawcett-Schmitz Funeral Homes, Winthrop & Lamont, are assisting the family. Al worked in Cedar Rapids for 42 years at Allis Chalmers, Harnischfeger P&H and PMX Industries as a machinist, retiring in 2010.
Al is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susy Hotchkiss of Lamont; son, Cory Hotchkiss (fiancée Kristine Sharpe) of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Isaac Hotchkiss; three stepgrandsons, Patrick, Chris and Marcus; sister, Wanda Kress-Deemer of Quasqueton; and many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his father and mother; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Ethel Gibbs.
