Alfred L. (Fred) Moeller, 73, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Kansas City. Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be Friday at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Fred was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Salem Rural Route, Iowa. He graduated from St. James High School, St. Paul, Iowa, and began his career in commercial construction in Cedar Rapids. He later moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he worked for JE Dunn and was a member of Carpenters Local 777 Union.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and served as an usher and a member of More Friends. He volunteered at St. Joseph Medical Center, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe J. and Anna Moeller; his sister, Dolores Brown; and nephew, Jack Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Welsh Moeller; and family, Mary, Catherine, Theresa, James, Annette, Joanne, Laurie and Kristin; grandchildren, Margeaux, Megan, Brian, Katy, Matthew, Alex, Nicholas, Anna, Nadia and William; and siblings, Patricia Bonser, Mary Jo Horras and Virginia Schwartz.
