He was attending the University of Iowa studying computer science.
Alex was a loyal friend, a loving son and the best big brother to his three younger siblings. Abby called him her best friend and his little brothers, Nate and Mitch, adored their big brother and playing video games with him.
Alex enjoyed many activities, some of which included watching movies with his family, bowling with his friends, and listening to a wide variety of music. Alex was a gentle soul with a kind heart who lived simply. He loved spending time with his friends and family. Alex was adored by and brought joy to all of those around him. He was a special young man with a bright future who has left this earth way too soon.
Alex's philosophy in life was to "live well and be kind."
Alex is survived by his parents, Bryan and Stacy; siblings, Abby, Nate and Mitch; grandparents, Wayne and Julie Johnson, and Art and Ida Mae Johnson; uncles and aunts, Jeff (Nicole) Johnson, Wendy (Rod) Bunch and Steven Johnson; and cousins, Landon, Cameron and Natalie Bunch.
His parents are strong advocates of adoption and mental health, and plan to create a scholarship in Alex's name to help the many who struggle in silence.
