Aletha M. Boie, 92, a resident of the Promise House in Hiawatha, died there on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. Private family services at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The use of face masks or shields are required. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Cedar Rapids; a son, David (Jackie) of Omaha, Neb.; and a daughter, Linda Boie of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Nikki and Josh; and three great-grandchildren, Madie, Jack and Ellie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Truman.
Aletha was born on Dec. 16, 1928, in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Frieda (Lander) Schrage. She attended Wartburg College, and later she graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Education. Aletha married Elmer L. Boie on May 24, 1953.
Aletha was a school teacher in the Cedar Rapids School District and retired from there after many years of service. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and volunteered at the St. Luke's Flower Shop for 14 years. Aletha will forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and a dedicated teacher to her students.
