She was born May 22, 1918, in Waterloo, daughter of Christopher and Margaret Victoria Beehner Blitsch. She grew up in the Waterloo/Eagle Center area, but lived in Waterloo most of her 97 years, very recently moving to Cedar Rapids to be near her children.
Alberta was united in marriage to Bernard Henry Weber on Oct. 9, 1937, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eagle Center. During the marriage they farmed in the Gilbertville area and had four children. They were later divorced.
Alberta is survived by a son, Bernard J. Weber of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mary Ann Olinger and Kathryn M. (Randy) Smith, both of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Schwarz of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann (Brad) Parsons of Cedar Rapids, Lisa Jean Olinger of Coralville, Lara (Chris) Facka of Jupiter, Fla., and Erin Ann (Jon) Holstrom of Urbandale; a stepgrandson, Brian Youngs of Naples, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren, Kaitie, Olivia, Nathan, Jack, Nicholas, Audrey, Sebastian, Halia and Charles; and her longtime friend, Gilbert Bird of Waterloo.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Howard Charles Weber; and a brother, Douglas C. Blitsch.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed her friends, entertaining, cooking, baking, dancing and playing cards. Her knowledge and appreciation for birds and flowers were a large part of her life.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Cedar Valley Hospice, Waterloo, and St. Luke's Inpatient Hospice Unit, Cedar Rapids, for the loving care shown to their mother.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 320 Mulberry St., with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo.
