Alberta Paulette Stanek, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 3, 2023. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home and again on Friday after 9 a.m. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Alberta is survived by her husband, Dale; sons, Dale (Patricia) Stanek II, of Alexandria, Ky., and Matthew (Dawn) Stanek of Dubuque; grandchildren, Eilish and Brady Stanek of Alexandria, Ky.; brother, Dwight (Vicki) McConnell of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Marcene Powers of Easley, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Junior, Don, Von, Virgil and Ervin McConnell; sisters, Doris Ellis, Dorothy Adamson, Adella Powders, Alice Roberts, Velma Pate and Thelma Jean McConnell.
Alberta was born on April 23, 1944, in Agency, the daughter of Floyd and Hazel McBeth McConnell. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1962. On May 9, 1964, Alberta married Dale Stanek in Cedar Rapids. She worked for 30 years at Evergreen Packaging, retiring in 1999.
Alberta was a doting grandma who loved to bake. She was a longtime volunteer for Linn County Republican Women, earning volunteer of the year in 2003. She was a regular shopper at Von Maur and collected Longaberger baskets and dishes.
