Albert, Lael 'Bosty'

Lael “Bosty” Albert, 87, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 23, 2009. Funeral services were Dec. 28, 2009, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, Corpus Christi, Texas. Entombment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Bosty is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Reta Albert; five children, Loren Albert (Becky), Tamra Kemp (William), Mary Beth Riley (Larry), Jackie Albert (Sharon) and Steven Albert (Jill); 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Bosty was preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Varo Albert, of Marengo, Iowa; and one sister, Gardis Summers, of Edinburg, Texas.

Bosty was born in Iowa County, Iowa, on Dec. 17, 1922, to Frank and Lela Albert. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served in World War II. He was stationed in the South Pacific, and was a member of an Amphibious unit. Bosty was an operator/mechanic for Union Local 450. He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool with his friends and family. His devotion to his family was evident from all the time he spent playing with his grandchildren, and entertaining everyone with his jokes. He liked to spend his spare time going to the Dollar stores in Corpus Christi so he could make goodie bags to give out to family and friends. The highlight of his day, for the past 25 years, had been his morning breakfast at Bibeau's, where the staff there has designated his own chair and booth.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
