We gather to honor the life of Albert Henry Hanssen, of Monticello, Iowa. Albert peacefully passed on May 16, 2024, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Albert Henry Hanssen began his journey on March 17, 1940, born to Henry and Martha Eggers Hanssen in Monticello, Iowa. He attended Scotch Grove, and later Monticello community school. On October 8, 1961, Albert married Joyce Willms at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
He began his working years at the Monticello Mutual Creamery and then started his employment in the feed business by working for Egger Feed Store. He eventually moved on and started Al and Larry’s Feed Store with Larry Martinsen. Larry later retired and it became Al’s Feed Store. In his later work years Al sold his business to Triangle Feed and continued to work there until he retired.
Following retirement Albert enjoyed Saturday morning coffee at Karde’s BP to catch up with all of his farming friends. Albert loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting activities, he enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and playing Euchre with his brothers. Albert also enjoyed being a part of the Scotch Grove Coon Hunters. May he rest in eternal peace.
