Albert Francis Hooper, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, June 13, 2022. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Albert was born Dec. 29, 1930, in Bridgewater, Mass., the son of Charles and Mildred (Leach) Hooper. He grew up in Cape Cod, Mass. Albert graduated from Bridgewater High School. He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Follett) Brauer on Aug. 28, 1973, in North Glen, Colo. Albert worked for the Cedar Rapids Police Department and then for Cherry-Burrell/Evergreen Packaging until his retirement in 1992. He loved all things Boston and Iowa Hawkeyes, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include his children, Randy (Karen) Hooper of Colleyville, Texas, and Barry (Kathy) Hooper of Cedar Rapids; stepsons, Kenneth (Vikki) Brauer of Hudson, Iowa, and Paul E. Brauer of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Melissa (Justin) Sipes of Ottumwa, Iowa, Matthew (Angie) Hooper of Marion, Iowa, Sara (Jamie) Northrup of Marion, Tammy (Tom) Brauer-Markham of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Brauer of Fallon, Nev.; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Charlene Hooper of East Leroy, Mich., Rogers (Bev) Hooper of North Falmouth, Mass., and Avery Hooper of Bali.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Hooper; and sister, Marion Hickey.
