Albert, Elizabeth 'Betty'
Elizabeth “Betty” Albert, 87, of Marshall, Minn., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 28, at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Elizabeth “Betty” (Blaul) Albert was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Theodore and Louise (Denecke) Blaul. She grew up and graduated from Villa De Chantal High School in Rock Island, Ill. On Sept. 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to John. L. “Jack” Albert. The couple owned and operated Albert's Cleaners for many years.
Betty was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Junior League. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time reading and working with children. In 2002, the couple moved to Marshall, Minn., to be closer to family.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Albert of Marshall; children, Deborah Albert of Gilroy, Calif., John (and Janet) Albert Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Susan (and Steve) Strautz of Marshall; grandchildren, Christopher (and Andrea) Strautz of Moorhead, Minn., Nicholas Strautz of Minnetonka, Minn., Laura Strautz of Fargo, N.D., Jack Albert and Lauren Albert of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchild, Brennan Strautz of Moorhead; sisters, Kathleen (and Forest) Howard of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Louise Martin of Walpole, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Frances Kimmel.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the excellent care Betty received at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center and Adult Daycare Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall or the Alzheimer's Association.
