Albert Bouchaute, 91, of Wheatland, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Wheatland Manor. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (St. James) Catholic Church in Toronto with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Big Rock. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Albert was born April 16, 1925, the son of August and Elizabeth (Vens) Bouchaute near New Liberty, Iowa. He graduated from Calamus High School in 1942. Albert married Laverne Etscheidt on Feb. 10, 1955, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watkins.
Albert was a farmer near Lowden for 20 years. Albert and Laverne moved to Wheatland in 1975. He worked at P.W. Stankee Co. for many years before his retirement.
Albert was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting pheasants and rabbits. He was very handy with woodworking, and also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team and St. Louis Cardinals. Albert loved playing horseshoes and had many ringers in his lifetime. He was a member of the Wheatland Wapsi Ringers Horseshoe Club for many years.
Albert will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Judie (Dave) Carson and Janis (Jan) Muhl of Wheatland; son, John (Nancy) Bouchaute of Maquoketa; granddaughters, Jennifer (Matt) Heitland of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Jessica (Luke) Shelton of Calamus; two great-grandsons, Brent and Caleb Shelton of Calamus; and stepgrandchildren, Dennis (Leigh) Carson of Cedar Rapids, Daryl (Julie) Carson of Ely and Kim Clark of Maquoketa.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laverne, on Nov. 17, 2012; and sister and brother-in-law, Darleen and Rick Kaasbell of Chicago.
