Albert Boots, 93, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Silvercrest in Anamosa. Funeral services celebrating his life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Friends and family may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery following services Monday.
Albert was born to Arthur and Thresa (Young) Boots on Feb. 20, 1921. He married Irene (Edwards) on June 10, 1972, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua. He worked as a farmer for many years and at Midland High School in the maintenance department. Albert also owned and operated Boots Flower Shop and Greenhouse in Wyoming.
He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Iowa women basketball and Midland High School sports fan. He enjoyed his morning coffee at Casey's and telling jokes. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Housing board and Wyoming Museum board. He was always there to lend a hand in the community and loved being part of the crew for Christmas decorating in town.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Lyle) Gullickson of Dike, Barbra (Steve) Burchett of Springfield, Mo., James Boots of Monticello and Dennis (Maria) Boots of Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard (Velma) Boots of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Kathryn; and two brothers, Bernard and Arthur Jr.
Memorials are preferred for the Wyoming Museum.
