Albert, Beverly Ann 'Bev'
Beverly Ann “Bev” Albert, 77, of Brandon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Brandon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lexie Kirkpatrick officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
Bev was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Perry A. and Josephine Miller Sloan. She graduated from Rowley High School in 1954.
On Jan. 30, 1955, Bev was united in marriage with Dean A. Albert at the Brandon United Methodist Church. The couple farmed in the Brandon area and Bev also worked at Virginia Gay Hospital and the Cedar Valley Times in Vinton. Dean preceded her in death on April 14, 2010.
Bev was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church and Rachel Circle. She was a Cub Scout leader, a member of the Sunshine Club, and enjoyed playing Bridge.
Bev is survived by one son, Gary (Barb) Albert of Brandon; one daughter, Marsha (Rodney) Hinrichs of Amana; three grandchildren, Lacey (Mark Toale) Albert, Chad Albert and Austin Hinrichs; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Elliot, Natalie, Hannah, Victoria and Ayden; one sister, Bernita (Stan) Ramstad of Cedar Falls; one brother, Larry (Lois) Sloan of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters: Wanda, Vanda and Sharon.
A memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Vinton Lutheran Home for the excellent care Bev received while she was a resident.
