Alan Aubrey Brown, 87, of Marion, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at Living Center West Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Alan was born Nov. 6, 1931, the son of Aubrey and Alice (Berrie) Brown, in Burlington, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict from 1948 to 1952. On Jan. 28, 1956, Alan was married to Kathryn Hutchinson in Monmouth, Ill.
Alan was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, especially Hawkeyes wrestling. He also enjoyed many hobbies such as running, bowling and reading.
Survivors include his three children, Anna (Steve) Strand, Lisa (Jim) Wichman and Ron Brown; seven grandchildren, Kirk (Katie) Strand, Kyle (Staci) Strand, Kade Strand, April (Travis) Buysse, Andrea (DJ) Nelson, AJ Wichman and Anissa Wichman; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brody, Hayden, Charlie, Parker, Penn, Peyton, Mya and Jameson; and five sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
