Al Claypool, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until service time.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Trudeen Claypool of Cedar Rapids; four children, Jennifer (Dean) Bennett of Mount Vernon, Travis Claypool of Raleigh, N.C., and Spencer Claypool and Dalton Claypool, both of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Terry Claypool and Tony (Mary) Claypool, and one sister, Tami Haycraft (Don Spencer), all of Cedar Rapids; and one granddaughter, Ella Bennett.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, Brian Claypool.
Al was born March 22, 1955, in Creston, Iowa, son of Bill and Trudeen (Jarmon) Claypool. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1974. Al worked at Amana Refrigeration for 15 years, then most recently at Source One Cleaning.
He enjoyed cars, playing guitar, listening to country western, camping and being outdoors. Most of all he enjoyed having a good time and was fun to be around.
