Ahrendsen, Martin Henry
Martin Henry Ahrendsen, 78 of Manchester, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Good Neighbor Home.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery. The Manchester Elders will officiate at the service.

A memorial for Martin has been established at Dupaco in Manchester and Dutrac in Monticello.
Survivors include his wife Betty; three children Bonnie Smock of Anamosa, Randy Lee of Belle Plaine, and Michael John Ahrendsen of Anamosa; two grandchildren, Shawn Calhoun and Zach Smock; and two great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Destiny.
He was preceded in death by his son, Martin Joseph; three sisters. Margaret Laar, Edith Moenk and Bertha Zato; and brothers, Clarence and Limey.
Martin Henry Ahrendsen was born March 4, 1932, in Manchester. He was the son of August and Jessie Ahrendsen. Martin was a graduate of Greeley High School. On Dec. 31, 1954, Martin married his wife Betty in Ocracoke, Ill. Martin served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver for the Jones County Roads Department.
He will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
