Ahlrichs, Regina
Regina Ahlrichs, 80, of Monticello, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Jones Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where a Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m.
Surviving are two daughters, Deb (Art Walters) Folkers and Karen (Thomas) Carpenter, both of Central City, nine grandchildren, Brandon (Jamie) Hennick, Stephen Folkers, Kayla Folkers, John Manternach, Jeff Manternach, Kelli (Nate) Topping, Kim Manternach, Amanda (Joe) Barber and Blake (Jennifer) Carpenter; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vincent (Doris) McNamara, Prairieburg, John (Jo) McNamara, Anamosa, and Dennis (Jane) McNamara, Backus, Minn.; two sisters, Frances (Harris) Harmsen, Monticello, and Mary M. Burns, Anamosa; and a sister-in-law, Lois McNamara, Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by his parents; her husband, Tom in 2006; a son, Tom in 1980; a daughter, Kathy Manternach in 2004; two brothers, Richard and Virgil; and two sisters, Pauline Kelly and Loretta Alves.
Regina Ella McNamara was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Dennis and Mary (Henry) McNamara. She received her early education in the Anderson Country School. Regina graduated from the Central City High School in 1951. She worked at a battery factory in Dubuque before starting at Collins Radio. Regina married Thomas J. Ahlrichs on July 22, 1954, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prairieburg. The couple farmed in the Monticello and Prairieburg areas. Regina worked at Rockwell Collins until 1989, when she retired. Her passion was always on the farm. She loved to milk cows and put up hay. She still owned at cow at the time of her death.
