Agnes Mildred Prusek, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died early Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, by the Rev. Del Bear. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Agnes is survived by nieces, Linda Slepicka and Teri Lowers; nephew,
Ronald Hewitt (Diane); grandniece, Jessica Lowers; and grandnephew,
Jason Lowers, all of the
Chicago area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Prusek; mother, Jennie (Bures) Kouba; father, Joseph G. Kouba; sisters, Bessie Schmidt and Helen Hewitt; brothers, Milo Kouba and Edwin Kouba; and also two very dear friends, Pepi and Honey.
Agnes was born July 30, 1919, in Cedar Rapids, and was a lifelong resident. She married John Prusek on Sept. 19, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Aug. 16, 1957.
