Adelaide M. Burger, 92, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax, by the Rev. Dustin Vu. Burial: St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax. A rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit with the family Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church Monday after 9 a.m.
Adelaide was born Oct. 22, 1924, to William and Katherine Cejp Zamastil in Fairfax. She grew up in Fairfax and graduated from Roosevelt High School, Cedar Rapids. On Nov. 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to Myron Burger at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax. The couple was blessed with four daughters and one son and enjoyed 47 years of marriage before Myron's death in April 1996.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Marcia (Ken) Caldbeck of Riverside, Ala., Nancy Finney of Cedar Rapids, Pamela Burger of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Dennis Burger of Fairfax; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, David Meskimen of Swisher; and special friends, Barb Clark and Barb Arp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; daughter, Sharon Meskimen; granddaughter, LoAnn; her sister, Lillian; and three brothers, Don, Leo and Bill Zamastil.
Adelaide was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother who dedicated her life to taking care of the most important people in her life, her family. She enjoyed taking care of her home and playing cards.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
