Adelaide E. Bildstein, 95, of Dyersville, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, where a parish vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.
Adelaide was born April 30, 1921, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of John and Katherine (Pottebaum) Rausch. She married Lawrence M. Bildstein on Nov. 28, 1939, in Petersburg. Adelaide worked at Ritz Restaurant, Ertl Co. and finally in enviromental services at Oak Crest Nursing Home, retiring in 1986. Following retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at Oak Crest Nursing Home for many years.
Survivors include her children, Mary Ann (Gus) Wilhelm of Dyersville, Sandra (Darrell) Ferreter and Larry (Melody) Bildstein, both of Cedar Rapids, Jerry (Linda) Bildstein of Solon and Dale Bildstein (Kathryn Burd) of North Liberty; son-in-law, Dean Howe of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Rausch of Guttenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence, in 1993; one son, Francis Bildstein; daughters, Sara Bildstein and Shirley Howe; a grandson, Charlie Bildstein; and siblings, Catherine Hoffmann, Marie Lucas, Anna Mae Fisher, Armella Hoffmann, Emma Walz, Theresa Lahey, Mary Magdeline Rausch, Edmund, Peter, Joe, Jack, Merlin and Francis Rausch,
The family would like to thank the staffs at the Ellen Kennedy Living Center and Oak Crest Manor for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
