Adams, Mary Jean
Mary Jean Adams, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012. There will be a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. A visitation will be held one hour before the mass. Interment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
Mary Jean is survived by her cousins, Eileen Lekin of Cedar Rapids and Frances and Jim Gatzemeyer of Bellevue, Neb.; her dear friends, Glenda and Greg Michel Jr., Karen Sevcik, Marjorie McDonald and Elaine Young; and many other cousins and friends.
Mary Jean was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Ella Adams. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1943 and Mount Mercy Junior College in 1945. She was employed at Iowa Electric until her retirement in 1984.
Mary Jean was a volunteer for Hospice of Mercy.
Her family and friends would like to thank Rebecca, her hospice caregiver, and the staff at Hospice of Mercy, Dr. Arin Casey and staff at Oncology Associates at Mercy as well as her condo friends for the loving care and support given to Mary Jean.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Patrick Catholic Church and Hospice of Mercy.
