On Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, Adam Daniel Wilhelm passed away at age 33.
Son of Brad Wilhelm and Paula Crock, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Chloe; as well as two brothers, Eric Crock and Spencer Wilhelm; and three sisters, Ashley (Wilhelm) Kaelber, Kristin Wilhelm and Meghan (Wilhelm) Serbousek. Known as the “best, crazy uncle,” to 10 nieces and nephews, who was always filled with laughter and made everyone feel included.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Lois Wilhelm, and Paul and Geraldine Crock. Although not overly expressive with his emotions, in meaningful moments, he made it clear that he loved and was proud of each member of his family. He will be dearly missed.
Adam graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. His hard-working spirit and intense drive to succeed in the business world earned him the honor of being named Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Business Student of the Year in 2012. Professionally, he was well known for his persistence, determination and refusal to quit.
He was equally passionate in his personal life. He was an enthusiastic, life-long Chicago Cubs fan and he craved the outdoors. He loved to spend his time fishing and hiking, where he could spend his time dreaming up new woodworking projects just like his much-admired grandpa would have done. He was known for his adventurous, playful and mischievous spirit, and adored for his smile that would light up any room. He was also blessed with an infectious laugh that drew people in with authenticity.
Adam had a personal faith in Jesus Christ that began as a child and lingered with him into adulthood. He always craved knowing Jesus more deeply. Adam often referred to this quote by an unknown author: “I was knocked, but I refuse to be out. I was fighting for survival. Now it’s the time for revival.” Adam’s resilient spirit can be summed up in this verse from 2 Timothy.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe Campaign in the name of Adam Wilhelm is in place to fund the funeral expenses. Contributions are welcome, appreciated, and a great blessing to the family in honor of Adam.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Hillside Wesleyan Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
