Acil Topping, 86, formerly of Swisher, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation wil be from 1 p.m. Saturday until service time. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Acil was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Hale, Iowa, the son of George and Bernice (Coleman) Topping. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1947. In 1950, he married Geraldine Lewis; the couple later divorced. In 1972, Acil married Mary McInvale-Hunter. Acil was a machinist for Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids.
Acil is survived by his wife, Mary Topping of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Donald (Rosie) Topping and Dennis (Rose) Topping; seven stepchildren; a sister, Geraldine Wherry; daughter-in-law, Joanie Topping; 31 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Acil was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Topping; and a sister, Delores Topping Holzinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his church, Bible Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids.
