Achey, Robert E.
Robert E. Achey, 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Ariz. Funeral Service with military honors: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carol; son, Michael (Barbara) Achey of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Tanya (Joseph) Pudil of Zimmerman, Minn.; grandchildren, Mariah Achey, Ethan Pudil and Emma-Jean Pudil; sisters, Karen Dennis of Clarence and Bettie (Virgle) VanAmburg of Norwalk; special companions, Molly and Bobbi (his baby ladies).
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Bridget Achey; and brother, Richard Achey.
Robert Earl Achey was born April 28, 1940, in Stanwood, Iowa, the son of Earl and Ada (Harmon) Achey. After graduating from the Clarence High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After being discharged, he married Carol Workman on June 23, 1967, in Vinton, Iowa. Bob was a driver for UPS from 1967 to 2000, when he retired. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and spending winters in Arizona with his wife, Carol. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
