Achey Jr., William DeVere
William DeVere Achey Jr., 65, of Hiawatha, died June 1, 2010, from complications of a stroke, with his loved ones by his side at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. There will be a Celebration of Life memorial at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by three sons, William Achey of St. Paul, Minn., Curtis (Sherry) Achey of Shellsburg and Michael (Millie) Achey of Cedar Rapids; six daughters, Brenda Achey of Cedar Rapids, Holly Achey of Hiawatha, Wendy Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Kaitlyn (Lee) Eschen of Manchester, Leslie Thurow of Illinois and Kerri Neil of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Kathie, Patty and Jolene; and 20 grandchildren.
Bill was born Aug. 4, 1944, to William Sr. and Virginia (Orr) Achey. He owned and operated the Better Way Express delivery service.
He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family and his many business associates.
