Abernathy, James William

James William Abernathy, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Cottage Grove Place. Private services will be held at a later date. Inurnment: Memory Gardens and Mausoleum, Arlington Heights, Ill.
James is survived by his son, Terry (Dr. Johanna) Abernathy of Cedar Rapids; granddaughters, Alexia (Gary) Lucas of Windsor, Colo., and Portia Abernathy of Boston, Mass.; and his dearest friend and caregiver, Debby Hines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; and a son, Ron.
James was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Sioux City, Iowa. He married June M. Sites there on Jan. 10, 1945. She died April 4, 1988.
