CEDAR COUNTY – Mark Mueller, Cedar Valley Golf Course Assistant Manager, has posted a video on YouTube hoping that viewers might be able to identify the man who broke into the golf course after 1:10 a.m. Monday morning.
The surveillance video, captured by a security camera, shows a man in shorts in the bar of what is locally called “The Badlands” golf course. On the video you can see the man trying to open a cash register. According to the YouTube post, two registers were destroyed as the man looked for money.
Mueller says the golf course was hosting a wedding reception on Sunday night. He says it wrapped up and golf course staff cleaned up and locked the doors around 12:40 a.m. Around 1:10 a.m. someone broke the window on the back door and got inside.
Mueller says neither he nor his brother recognize the man in the video. Most of the damage was contained to the two smashed cash registers, the broken window and some scratches to the bar counter.
The YouTube post also asks that anyone who has information about the break-in should call the sheriff's office at (563) 886-2052.
