A woman was taken to an unspecified hospital Wednesday after her vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-trailer truck.
Emergency crews responded to the eastbound lane of Interstate 80 near mile marker 268, northwest of Wilton, around 11:10 a.m. for a report of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found a semi truck completely blocking the interstate's eastbound lane.
Police said preliminary investigation showed the semi and a white sedan were traveling in the westbound lane of I-80 when the front left portion of the semi hit the rear right side of the car. The collision caused both vehicles to travel across the median and into the eastbound lane.
Officers said no other cars were involved in the accident and the driver of the sedan, a woman whose name and age could not be specified, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Traffic was not completely impeded, despite the semi covering the entire eastbound lane. An exit for a rest stop was located just before the scene of the accident, and vehicles were able to pass the scene of the accident via the rest stop.
As of noon, the eastbound lane was completely reopened to traffic. Police said they are still investigating the accident.
