Woman stabbed, beaten in Cedar Rapids; police seek suspect

Cedar Rapids police continue to investigate after a woman was stabbed and beaten during a domestic dispute Friday evening.

Officers were dispatched just after 8:30 p.m. to 3030 Wenig Road NE. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said a 42-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds to her torso, and injuries to her head and face.

A witness who lives in the area said he saw a woman coming from the woods in front of his house and she seemed "dazed." When he approached her, she had blood on her forehead and said she'd been stabbed and beaten up by her husband. The witness said it appeared as though she'd been stabbed in her lower back.

Police said the woman initially declined treatment, but was later taken to Mercy Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Hamblin said the suspect was not at the scene when officers arrived and has not been located as of Monday. No arrests had been made in the case, she said.
