IOWA CITY - A female was injured while walking after being hit by a drunken driver.
Police said Aubrey D. Strause, 19, of 1611 Crosby Lane, was driving when she hit a female crossing the intersection of Burlington and Clinton streets around 2:50 a.m. Saturday, according to University of Iowa Department of Public Safety complaints.
Strause was stopped a block and a half away after she pulled her vehicle into a parking lot where she admitted to police she knew she hit the female pedestrian, according to police complaints.
Police said Strause told police that she was looking for a place to pull over so she could check on the female - who police said suffered a head injury.
Several alcoholic beverages were found throughout the vehicle, and Strause admitted to having four or five beers, police said. She had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes, and a blood-alcohol content of .133 according to police.
