A Davenport woman was arrested after staying in a Coralville hotel for two days without being registered to a room.
Police were called to the Baymont Inn & Suites at 200 6th Street in Coralville at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday for a report that a female had allegedly locked herself into a room that was not registered and refused to come out. Upon arrival, police apprehended Katrina L. Austin, 39, who cooperated with the authorities.
Coralville Police Chief Barry Bedford said an investigation showed Austin had stayed in the room Friday and Saturday nights without being registered or making any type of payment. Police were also unable to find a room key.
Bedford said a man checked out of the room on Friday and denied allowing Austin in. Police are still unsure how Austin gained access to the room.
The total bill for two nights plus a smoking fine equaled $401.58. Austin was charged with fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor.
