Winds knock down power lines along Ellis Boulevard NW

At least two trees toppled by high winds knocked down both power lines and poles along Ellis Boulevard NW Monday morning.
Officials with Alliant Energy said fixing the problem meant closing Ellis Boulevard by the Manhattan park pavilion in Ellis Park until mid-afternoon.
The utility said the damaged lines and poles initially knocked out power to at least 1,200 customers. By re-routing power, that number dwindled to only one customer as of 2 p.m.
One Alliant spokesperson said it was a complicated repair job and involved a large number of workers.
