An animal rescue group is in need of help caring for a group of cats they just inherited.
Safe Haven of Iowa County says a woman moving out of her mobile home gave up 20 cats because she could no longer have them on the property. The rescue group wasn't allowed on the property, instead the woman dropped the cats off at the shelter in Williamsburg. The shelter couldn't hold the 20 cats, so they brought the animals to a vet in Anamosa.
Safe Haven needs help finding permanent homes for the cats and needs donations to help pay the vet bills. The cats were in pretty rough shape and many were covered with fleas and had respiratory problems.

The cats were brought in by Safe Haven of Iowa County and had been living in a Williamsburg home until the owner became overwhelmed and allowed the group to take them. None of the cats brought in were spayed or neutered and all 20 needed a complete vet check-up. The group will provide shelter until they can find a home for them. (Julie Koehn/The Gazette)
