There's a good chance there will be flurries flying later today. But will the snow make Thanksgiving travel hazardous in Eastern Iowa?
It depends on where temperatures end up, according to KCRG-TV9's Kaj O'Mara.
The main focus is obviously on the weather system due into Eastern Iowa this afternoon and tonight. It does appear air temperatures will dip down to around 32 sometime overnight. The pavement and the ground, however, are both quite warm, so it doesn't appear we'll see any impressive accumulations, O'Mara said.
Most communities will see a trace to a half inch out of this event, mainly tonight. But it's still advisable to keep an eye on road conditions tonight as the precipitation falls.
Thanksgiving Day still looks chilly and windy, with morning flurries and a daytime high of only 36 degrees. But then things start looking a little better, with highs of 44 on Friday, 49 Saturday and 45 Sunday, before a slight rain chance returns Sunday night.
