When do Eastern Iowa pools open for the season?

The swimming season in Eastern Iowa traditionally begins with Memorial Day weekend. And while this year’s holiday weekend won’t be particularly warm — the National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s — here’s a look at places and dates when you can take the plunge in Eastern Iowa.

CEDAR RAPIDS

Noelridge Aquatic Center, 1248 42nd St. NE: Noelridge opens Saturday to Monday, May 24-26, with Lap Swim for ages 15 and up, 11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m., $5.50 or pass; open swim for all ages, 1-5 p.m., $6.50 or pass. Summer season continues: May 31-Aug. 3, various programs and times. Post-Season, Aug. 4-24, 30, and Sept. 1.

Bever Pool, 2700 Bever Ave. SE: Summer Season: June 7-Aug. 3; various programs and times, including water exercise Mondays and Wednesdays and K9Splash! dog swims Aug. 9 and 10.
