IOWA CITY - A 27-year-old West Burlington woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment after police discovered she was driving under in the influence of drugs with her 5-year-old daughter in her vehicle on Saturday night.
Reports indicate that Nicole D. Sullivan, of 735 Swan Street, was pulled over by an Iowa City Police officer at Old Highway 218 and Riverside Drive for equipment violations at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night. After requests to search Sullivan's vehicle and were refused, a K-9 unit was deployed for an open air sniff test and indicated the presence of drugs.
Officers located marijuana and a bottle of Oxycodone pills in the car. After consenting to a drug recognition evaluation, Sullivan was shown to be under the influence of marijuana and unable to safely operate a vehicle. Sullivan admitted to using marijuana, Iowa City Police said.
Sullivan was being held at the Johnson County Jail waiting to see a judge on Sunday morning.
