CEDAR RAPIDS - Police are investigating the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 3570 First Ave. NE this afternoon.
Police Lt. Joe Clark said the bank was robbed at 12:47 p.m. The suspect, described only as a black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, demanded money from a bank teller and left the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Clark said police don't yet know if the man left on foot or in a vehicle. He remains at large. Police believe the man didn't have a weapon, Clark said, but officials are waiting for access to the bank's surveillance video to confirm details of the robbery.
No one was hurt, Clark said. A K-9 officer is on the scene, and the Linn County Sheriff's Office is providing assistance.
Check back for details as they become available.
