A 50-year-old Wellman man found himself behind bars at the Johnson County Jail last night - 13 years after two warrants were issued for his arrest.
Thomas E. Glick, of 1533 Fur Avenue, had warrants issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court after being arrested for OWI and driving while license denied or revoked in April of 1998.
Records indicate that Glick contacted the court after his arraignment date was set and said that he was living at an Iowa City address. Letters to the given address were returned by the Postal Service a couple weeks later.
Glick was taken into the Johnson County jail at 10:20 p.m. Monday night. He posted a $3,000 bond and was released from the jail by Tuesday morning.
It is unclear what caused him to come into contact with authorities, but Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek said it was likely something minor, like a traffic violation.
“There are several reasons why this could happen…he might have been out of state, he might have been in prison somewhere,” Pulkrabek said. “The bottom line is he has not likely had any contact with [local] law enforcement.”
