A Waterloo woman is facing charges of child endangerment after her 6-month old was injured when she allegedly left him alone in December.
According a police report, investigators were summoned to a local hospital Dec. 9 after staff reported a child with multiple bruises was brought there for treatment.
The police report says investigators found a 6-month-old child with facial bruising and swelling. Medical tests determined the child also suffered bleeding in the brain. It wasn't revealed how the child was injured.
The boy's mother, 32-year-old Shara Tion Harmon-Laster, was arrested Monday for allegedly leaving him alone in their apartment to visit with neighbors. She was being held in lieu of $20,000 bond at the Black Hawk County jail.
The child was treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and released to a family member.
