NORTH LIBERTY - A water boil order for a portion of North Liberty has been lifted after samples taken this week, including Thursday morning, tested negative for contaminants.
The boil order, issued Monday by the city, recommended water be boiled before drinking or alternative water sources be used for 'some customers in the area of West Zeller Street between Sugar Creek Lane and Prairie Ridge Court, customers along Zeller Crossing and customers on Elm Ridge Drive between Zeller Street and Elm Ridge Court” according to a news release. The release noted customers on Elm Ridge Court were not impacted.
On Thursday morning, the second of two samples taken 24 hours apart tested negative for contaminants.
The advisory went into effect because of a water main break Monday that may have opened up the water supply in the area to potential bacterial contamination.
For more information on the situation, contact Greg Metternich, the city's water superintendent, at (319) 626-5700.
