UPDATE: The Nebraska man charged in the shooting death of a maintenance worker at the I-80 Victor rest stop last month admitted he was the shooter, according to a search warrant filed Friday in Iowa County District Court.
The warrant didn't have any details of the confession by Peter Riggs, 32, of Columbus, Neb. Riggs has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jeffrey McAdam, 46, of Victor, who was shot in the men's restroom at the rest stop May 29. McAdam died at the scene from a single gunshot wound.
The only other new information contained in the warrant was what police found in Riggs' 1995 Dodge Spirit: A loaded Ruger 9mm pistol, a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, 9mm ammunition, a double-bladed knife, a cell phone and a stun gun.
According to a 911 tape released last week, a witness who found McAdam after the shooting said McAdam's wound appeared to be in his groin area.
Riggs turned himself in to a deputy who was helping a motorist near the Johnson-Cedar county line about three hours after McAdam was found.
Riggs remains in custody at the Iowa County Jail.
