Von Maur departure set, Iowa City's Sycamore Mall looks to redevelop

With Von Maur set to relocate from Iowa City's Sycamore Mall to Coralville's Iowa River Landing this August, the mall has hired Shive-Hattery Architects-Engineers to help redevelop the shopping center.

The mall owners and the architectural firm will evaluate retail trends throughout the United States and search for new tenants, according to a media release.

The re-positioning of the center, which opened  in 1969, includes active negotiations with prospective tenants that will compliment the center and its retailers, which include Petland, Panera, Dollar Store, Pizza Ranch, Ben Franklin and Sycamore 12 Theaters, according to the release

This follows an announcement in February of a new financial agreement reached with Great Western Bank.
