UPDATE: A Marion bank was robbed for the second time in 10 months Wednesday morning, police said.
Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty said a man entered Linn County State Bank, 1295 Blairs Ferry Rd., just before 10 a.m. and got away with cash before fleeing the scene on foot.
“I believe he was armed, but I can't confirm that,” Daugherty said.
The robbery suspect was wearing a white ski mask and a Carhartt-type coat, Daugherty said. A more detailed description was not immediately available.
Vikki Lafler, an employee at Insight Vision, the business just west of the bank, told The Gazette she saw a man wearing a Carhartt-type coat walking through the store's parking lot toward the bank around 9:45 a.m., with his hands in his pockets. He climbed a snowdrift to get to the bank, Lafler said.
It's not known at this point if the man was the robbery suspect, police said.
The bank was closed and police canvassed the area, including the mobile home court directly behind the bank. Officers put up crime scene tape near the bank's drive-up window after shoe prints were found in the snow.
Daugherty said investigators would review surveillance video from the bank.
“We're going to take a look at stuff and see what we come up with,” Daugherty said.
The same bank branch was robbed on March 10. Two suspects were charged in that robbery.
