Vehicles collide on Highway 1 south of Kalona

Three people were hurt this morning in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 south of Kalona.
According to reports from the Iowa State Patrol's Fairfield district office, Christina C. Frederick, 24, of Kalona, was driving southbound on Highway 1 about five miles south of Kalona at 10 a.m. today when she lost control. He car slid into the northbound lane, where it was struck in the driver's side by a car driven by Ray J. Mourer, 86, of Richland.
Frederick, Mourer, and a passenger in Mourer's car, Caroleann Black, 73, of Richland, were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by ground ambulance.
The accident remains under investigation.
