The United States Hockey League has announced rules experimentations that will be used in the league's annual Fall Classic, which began Monday. It also announced rules that will be in effect for the 2014-15 regular season.
The experimental rules include playing 3-on-3 in overtime and installing an icing rule during penalty kill situations. Those rules are designed to 'create more offensive situations,” according to the league.
The permanent rules for this season include teams being allowed to dress 21 players instead of 20 for games. Teams still can dress as many as 22 guys in games involving Team USA.
Additionally, any player that loses his helmet during play must either proceed to his team's bench or immediately put and properly re-secure the helmet. If not, there is a two-minute minor penalty.
